HUGH COCHLIN

Hugh has more than 30 years of architectural experience in the design and development of a wide range of commercial, residential, and arts & cultural projects in Western Canada. He believes that a successful building balances design, the owner’s unique needs, and the needs of the community at large. Hugh joined Proscenium shortly after its inception in 1997 and became a Principal in the firm in 2005. He is a natural leader with strong project management skills, and has a nuanced and practical understanding of the operation and day-to-day functioning of a wide range of building types.

Hugh is widely recognized for his leadership in the design and renovation of performing arts and entertainment spaces. Since 1997, he has worked on dozens of dedicated art spaces in the greater Vancouver area, and his expertise in sensitive heritage renovations of treasured cultural buildings is second to none.

In the last ten years, Hugh has led the design of three award-winning mass timber projects, including the most recent MEC Vancouver Flagship Store. He is a sought-after speaker on the insights and benefits of mass timber for conferences and events since 2015.
