Firehall Arts Centre Needs Assessment

In 2016, Proscenium was retained to create a Needs Assessment study for the Firehall Arts Centre. The objectives were to obtain an overview of the facility and stakeholder needs at the time and to assess solutions to meet those needs.

The Needs Assessment outlined four key drivers: accessibility; patron, staff and performer comfort; performance venue enhancement; and expansion for increasing cultural needs and venue viability. With a team of consultants, Proscenium developed a conceptual design envisioned to breathe new life into the facility, make it welcoming and accessible for all, and prepare it for a new generation of performance. Building on the conceptual design, the report charted a two-phase expansion/renovation strategy, with intent to realistically address budget needs, meet project objectives and provide direction to meet its short and long-term goals moving forward.
